How to be more confident
How to focus on yourself
Do you feel as confident in yourself as you would like to? …. Few people could answer “yes” to this question. In fact, we have all felt insecurity and lack of self-confidence, forming a barrier between who we are and who we want to be.
Lack of confidence can limit all the potential you have and, it becomes an obstacle to achieving what you want. But, the good news is that letting go of fear and gaining more confidence is a skill that can be learned and trained (there is scientific evidence behind this).
So if you want to feel more confident, here is a step that will take you only 2 minutes and an additional emergency strategy. So read on because this is of interest to you.
The average human has 50,000 thoughts every day (although the figure is still debated). Of which it is estimated that more than 50% are negative 1. In other words; more than half of our thoughts are “warnings to self”.
But, many times this works against us. It leads us to focus on our fears, instead of focusing on our plans to achieve what we want. They also cause us not to demonstrate self-confidence.
Self-confidence and self-esteem
Recent neuropsychological studies have determined that self-confidence, that is, self-confidence, is fundamental to be able to succeed in life and also to minimize the appearance or virulence with which certain mental disorders or even cognitive diseases such as Alzheimer’s suffer.
In this way, the lack of self-confidence or the negative and pessimistic thoughts associated with it, can advance before these diseases and increase their severity. Self-confidence or having confidence in oneself is therefore vital to live a full and happy life.
This pillar of self-esteem is nurtured or diminished throughout our life experiences. So much so that studies conducted in Kyoto through neurological sensors have found that self-confidence increases when after an experience performed by a person, he or she receives financial compensation.
The way to improve self-confidence and to reward the lack of self-confidence would then focus on manipulating the thoughts we have towards ourselves to focus them towards achievement.
Having self-confidence en español
Self-confidence implies feeling sure of yourself and your talent, not in an arrogant way, but in a realistic way. This confidence does not mean feeling superior to others. It is about knowing, internally and with serenity, that you are a capable person.
Self-confidence helps us feel prepared to face life’s experiences. When we are confident, we tend to move toward people and opportunities, not away from them. And, if things don’t work out at first, self-confidence helps us try again.
When a person lacks self-confidence, just the opposite happens. He is much less likely to try new things and to try to communicate with a stranger. If he fails at something the first time, he is very unlikely to try it again. A lack of self-confidence or self-assurance can prevent a person from reaching his or her full potential.
Self-confidence psychology
There is no such thing as a completely confident person, although some people may pretend otherwise. We all know uncertainty, either because we would like to control the future or because we do not value ourselves enough.
But if we learn to live with our own doubts and limitations, and we are aware that in life there are things that are beyond our control, we will gain security because we will know how to deal with our fears.
“I will only do it when I feel sure of myself”, we often say when faced with a great challenge of a work, emotional, social, family or economic nature. If we were asked when we would be sure, we would often answer “I don’t know”. In other words, we are not sure of the answer either.
If we are valued for what we are, that is, because we are here, for the simple and wonderful fact of existing, if this appreciation is transmitted to us through gestures, attitudes and words, if our achievements are recognized and our skills are called upon, we will soon understand that we are important to others.
