Ready Player One is a live-action science fiction action film produced and directed by Steven Spielberg and written by Zak Penn and Ernest Cline, based on the novel of the same name by Ernest Cline. The film stars Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Ben Mendelsohn, T. J. Miller, Simon Pegg, and Mark Rylance.

The film is set in a dystopian world, where the population spends most of its time in a virtual reality video game called OASIS. When its founder dies and leaves his property to the first person to find hidden treasure by playing and solving puzzles, a race ensues between a young boy and his friends, and an evil megacorporation that wants to control OASIS themselves.

Wade Watts is a teenager from Columbus, Ohio, who frequents the OASIS and attempts to win a game recently created by the late creator of the OASIS, James Halliday. The winner will be awarded full ownership of the OASIS and Halliday’s $500 million fortune. While Wade works with several OASIS friends to uncover the treasure, an evil corporation led by Nolan Sorrento, employs several Sixers to try to uncover the treasure first and take control of the OASIS for themselves.

Ready Player One es una película estadounidense de aventuras de ciencia ficción de 2018 basada en la novela homónima de Ernest Cline. Dirigida por Steven Spielberg, a partir de un guión de Zak Penn y Cline, está protagonizada por Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Ben Mendelsohn, Lena Waithe, T.J. Miller, Simon Pegg y Mark Rylance. Ambientada en 2045, gran parte de la humanidad utiliza el OASIS, una simulación de realidad virtual, para escapar del mundo real. El huérfano Wade Watts encuentra pistas sobre un concurso que promete la propiedad del OASIS al ganador, y él y cuatro aliados intentan completarlo antes de que una corporación dirigida por el empresario Nolan Sorrento pueda hacerlo.

El desarrollo comenzó en 2010 cuando Warner Bros. adquirió los derechos del libro. En julio de 2015, Spielberg firmó para dirigir y producir la película, y el casting para la película comenzó en septiembre de 2015. El rodaje comenzó en Inglaterra en julio de 2016 y se completó en septiembre de 2016.
