Llámame por tu nombre (en italiano: Chiamami col tuo nome) es una película de drama romántico de 2017 dirigida por Luca Guadagnino. Su guion, de James Ivory, que también coproduce, está basado en la novela homónima de 2007 de André Aciman. La película es la última entrega de la trilogía temática “Deseo” de Guadagnino, después de Yo soy el amor (2009), y A Bigger Splash (2015). Ambientada en 1983 en el norte de Italia, Call Me by Your Name narra la relación romántica entre un joven de 17 años, Elio Perlman (Timothée Chalamet), y Oliver (Armie Hammer), un estudiante de posgrado de 24 años asistente del padre de Elio, Samuel (Michael Stuhlbarg), un profesor de arqueología. La película también está protagonizada por las actrices Amira Casar, Esther Garrel y Victoire Du Bois.
El desarrollo comenzó en 2007, cuando los productores Peter Spears y Howard Rosenman adquirieron los derechos de la novela de Aciman. Ivory había sido elegido para codirigir con Guadagnino, pero se retiró en 2016. Guadagnino se había unido al proyecto como buscador de localizaciones, y finalmente se convirtió en director único y coproductor. It was directed by Luca Guadagnino and written by James Ivory, based on the novel of the same name by André Aciman (2007). The film is an international production and belongs to Guadagnino’s “Desire” trilogy along with Io sono l’amore (2009) and Blinded by the Sun (2015).
The film had been in development since 2007, when producers Peter Spears and Howard Rosenman acquired the rights to the novel. Ivory was tapped to direct it but ultimately served as screenwriter. Guadagnino, who was to serve as location consultant, was chosen as director in 2016. Filming took place in Crema between May and June 2016. The film was shot on 35mm reels under the command of cinematographer Sayombhu Mukdeeprom.
Elio and Oliver start spending time together. Elio begins a sexual relationship with Marzia and brags about it in front of Oliver to gauge his reaction. During a trip to the post office, Elio subtly confesses his feelings for Oliver, who gently tells him that he should not act on them. They go to a place exclusive to Elio, and he kisses Oliver on the lips. Oliver returns the gesture, but hesitates to go further. The couple becomes distant over the next few days.
