The film received positive reviews from critics, who praised the cast’s performance, the visual effects, the emotional weight of the story and the action scenes. It has grossed more than $2 billion worldwide, making it the highest-grossing film of 2018, as well as the fifth highest-grossing film of all time. In its opening weekend, it grossed $641 million worldwide and $258 million in the U.S. and Canada, setting records for the highest-grossing openings for both. Its sequel, Avengers: Endgame, was released on April 26, 2019.
